Life at SIS

Services

Safe school bus services, comprehensive learning support, flexible daycare options, and a mandatory uniform policy are among our key offerings at SIS.

Bus Services

We offer a school bus service primarily for preschool and primary school students, with limited availability for secondary students. Buses are equipped with seat belts, GPS tracking, and emergency supplies, with bus attendants ensuring safe transportation. Students living within the current designated bus routes can request this service.

For the convenience of SIS families, we currently have 8 routes:

Register for School Bus Service

If our school bus reaches full capacity, waitlists will be created, and students will be registered as seats become available. Those on the waitlist will receive priority for openings that arise during the school year. For inquiries or to register, please contact us via email or phone. Please note that routes and times may adjust based on the number of students utilizing the service.

Uniform

The tone and learning environment of a school are significantly enhanced when students adhere to a standard of appearance. Therefore, all students are required to wear the SIS uniform at all times, unless otherwise specified. All uniform items must be purchased through our official suppliers.

Learning Support

At SIS, we strive to enhance students’ learning experiences. We identify children with additional needs during the application process or through classroom observations. Our learning support services cover various areas, including learning difficulties, English as an Additional Language (EAL), upper primary math, and behavior management.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

Our EAL program helps students access the mainstream curriculum through small group instruction and curriculum modifications, using both “push in” and “pull out” sessions tailored to individual needs. English proficiency is assessed using WIDA standards during the interview process, and enrollment and support are determined by the EAL coordinator and homeroom teacher. Ongoing support is provided based on proficiency, with continuous assessments to adapt to changing needs.

Learning Support Needs Support

Students with additional needs may be identified at any time during their school years. If formally assessed, they receive an Individual Educational Plan (IEP), which is regularly reviewed with parents and the support team. For other students, a Student Success Plan is created, which may evolve into an IEP following external assessments.

IEPs provide guidance for curriculum, teaching strategies, and resources, ensuring that students are integrated into regular classrooms while addressing their individual needs. Small class sizes, counseling, and specialized math support in grades 3-5 ensure tailored instruction. Parent involvement and continuous record-keeping are key to monitoring and adapting support.

Exiting Support Services

Support services, such as EAL, Learning Support, Math Support, and Counseling, are gradually reduced once a student reaches class-average levels in academic and counseling areas. This decision is based on MAP/WIDA test results, class assessments, and teacher feedback, ensuring the student is adequately prepared to transition out of additional support.

Day Care

SIS offers daycare services for SIS students at our Seaside Campus, specifically for younger students in ELC and lower primary. This program supports families by providing care beyond regular school hours. For more details, please refer to the Day Care policy below.
