Literacy Week 2020

Poem in your Pocket Day! Today the teacher’s carried a poem in their pocket in Literacy Week 2020. When asked, they shared them with the students. We had poems in English, Japanese, Turkish and Azerbaijani too. Remember to bring a poem in your pocket for Thursday when it is our students’ turn- a great way to use Communication Skills for listening and speaking.

Today is Poem in Your Pocket Day for the students. It was so incredible to hear them reading poems that they had found or written themselves! A great way to use Communication skills- Speaking and Listening- to share our love of literature! Tomorrow we will run the Book Fair sale in Literacy Week 2020 – please send your child with some money to purchase new books in English.

Book Character Dress Up Day and the Book Fair were a great success! Congratulations to all our winners! For the Reading Competition, Grade 4 read the most pages and Kindergarten read the most books. The winners of the Writing Competition, Scavenger Hunt and Best Dressed Book Character Costume were awarded their prizes and certificates during assembly. Thank you for supporting our Literacy Week for 2020!
