Welcome to Shinagawa International School in Tokyo

Our school has a proud heritage that dates back to 2007 in Shibuya. When we outgrew our old facility, we shifted our operation to our current location in Shinagawa Seaside at the end of June 2018.

The International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program is an integral part of our school system. Being a world-renowned organization from Geneva, Switzerland with over 1 million students in 146 countries, students can transfer from one IB school to another without impediment or disruption to their education.  As an IB PYP Authorized School, we have a diverse student population with an equal distribution of more than 40 nationalities. Our goal is to develop students’ intellectual, emotional, personal and social skills to become caring global citizens that solve the future complexities of world problems.

Gleaning from an international and English speaking environment, our children have an advantage with a 1:6 teacher/student ratio over other larger and more impersonal schools. Our new school campus, larger classrooms, spacious gym and open playground create a well-balanced educational situation. We have access to nearby outdoor facilities such as Samezu Soccer Ground every weekday along with Samezu Park and Konami Sports Club.

The Shinagawa International School in Tokyo calendar includes a full slate of events like International Children’s Day, Sports Day, Literacy Week, Science Week, Japanese Cultural Day, Celebrations of Learning and Winter Performance.

Our Parent Teacher Association (PTA) has a very strong working hand and collaboration with our school administration. We are also proud of our After School Program (ASP) with Robotics, Dance Club, Drama Club, Swimming, Ballet, Karate, Guitar, Sports of all Sorts and Art & Craft Club. These ASP’s are geared toward our regular students in attendance from Tuesday through Thursday (15:15 until 16:00). Such activities are run by our SIS teachers and community members and rotate and change based upon wants, needs and resources.

This website aims to give you a better insight into the fantastic work we do here at Shinagawa International School. I hope to welcome you to our school in the near future.
