In this blog, I want to share some exciting news! We have signed a contract for Our New Shinagawa Campus Facility, the wheels are in motion for our move, and we are officially the “new kids on the block!” We will be moving from the Omatesando/Jingumae area in Shibuya Ward to Shinagawa.
The reason for the move is that we have outgrown our current building and our sister school also needs the space that we have rented from them so faithfully for many years. That means, we will no longer be an “exchange” school and have to meet. certain enrollment criteria and quotas set by the Shibuya government. We will be open to everyone in a true international spirit. Of course we will still continue exchange activities with neighboring schools.
The inside of our new building is now under construction according to our specifications. It will be ready by the end of June. A new JIES emblem (sign) will. be attached to our new school soon. This building has triple the space of our existing Jingumae International School Campus and we have secured two floors. The top floor will be devoted to classrooms and our library. The bottom space will be used for indoor play area. Our new PYP school will be open to 3-year-olds through 6th Grade students.
Our New Shinagawa Campus Facility is easily accessible and is a 5-minute walk respectively from Shinagawa Seaside and Aomono-Yokocho stations. We are near coffee shops, shopping facilities and a Koban just like before. We have Samezu Athletic Park within a hop, skip and jump from us. This park contains picnic accommodations, a baseball diamond and a pitch that is 3x the size of Jinsho’s field. There is also an athletic club down the street from us that offers a pool, gymnastics, a running track, a climbing wall and martial arts. So, now I can officially say, “Welcome to Shinagawa International School.”
