Payment of Tuition

Tuition can be paid in three installments.

  • Autumn Term Payment Due Date: June 20
  • Winter Term Payment Due Date: November 20
  • Spring Term Payment Due Date: February 20

Alternative payment dates will be suggested for enrolments made at irregular times.

Fees Policy

At Shinagawa International School (SIS) in Tokyo, the school fees consist of an application fee, enrollment fee, maintenance fee, and tuition. All fees should be remitted in Japanese Yen.

Fees are fixed for the August 2023 to June 2024 school year. They are reviewed annually by the school board and any changes to the school fees for the next school year are announced by the end of May.

Application Fee (one-time fee and non-refundable) – A fee of 20,000 JPY is due upon submission of each student’s application.

Enrollment Fee (one-time fee and non-refundable) – The enrollment fee is 750,000 JPY per student and is payable within one week from the confirmation of the student’s admission to Shinagawa International School  (SIS) in Tokyo.

Maintenance Fee  (annual and non-refundable) – The maintenance fee is 200,000 JPY per student.

Tuition  – The tuition is per year payable in three installments.

EAL (ESL) Fee (if required) – 500,000 JPY per year payable in three installments. ELC students don’t require it. (except Kindergarten)

The following charges are not included: lunches, uniforms, non-curriculum residential and day trips, SEN support, some exam fees, some sports events and tournaments, some extracurricular activities/ASPs, and Swimming.    

PTA annual fee of 6,000 yen is asked to support the PTA.

Shinagawa International School (SIS) holds a field trip once every term. Depending on the field trip site, the admission fee is required. Below are examples:

Shinagawa International School (SIS) has school lunch service from Monday to Friday.

School Lunch is an optional service.

Other Fees

Uniform

The School Uniform is compulsory for all grades. The uniforms can be ordered throughout the year. The overall cost depends on the number of items ordered.

Late Enrolment

Tuition fees for students enrolled after the beginning of the school year will be calculated based on academic terms.  Attendance for any portion of a term will require a payment for the full term.

Late Payment

If the tuition payment is late, there will be a 2% fee of the total payment added to usual payment. Any student’s bills who are in arrears for more than one month will be suspended until the payment is made.

Withdrawal Notice Period

Parents wishing to withdraw a student from the School must give not less than one complete term prior written notice of withdrawal to the school or pay one complete term’s fees in lieu of such notice. The school’s Withdrawal Form can be downloaded here.

Refund of Fees

  • All school fees are not refundable.
  • One-time payments and first-term tuition shall be paid during enrollment.
  • First-term tuition and one-time payments are non-refundable.
  • In case of not being able to come to Japan due to unavoidable circumstances such as visa restrictions from the Japanese government or entry regulations, tuition payments are carried forward only once.
